A lapa is most often used as an entertainment area and this means food and drink being consumed under and around the lapa. Also, most often a braai is also enjoyed under the braai but this can create a problem.
Most paving bricks are made from a cement combination and will soak up anything wet that lands on it, this means a tomato sauce spill is going to stain most paving bricks. Oil splatter from the braai is also going to spoil the look of the lapa area.
Using a clay paving brick on your entertainment area or under the lapa will help to keep the area fresh and clean as clay repels wet and using a moist cloth with a little detergent will clean up almost any spill or stain.
